Tips for getting you on the road.

There are many hints and tips we can share with you to make your learning to drive journey a little less bumpy. Here are a few to get you started....

YOUR LOGBOOK - Make sure your logbook is well looked after. Keeping your logbook up to date is essential. Don't lose the front cover, this is your identification of logbook ownership. Fill in all trip details and make sure that it is signed. Use pen, never use pencil, your logbook will be rejected if there is any pencil. Always double check your calculations when adding up your hours.

GETTING BEHIND THE WHEEL - When first starting out, location is key. Start in quiet, low traffic areas. Empty car parks or industrial areas on the weekend are great options. Spend some time getting to know the interior of the car. Adjusting the seat so vision is good and that the steering wheel is in a comfortable position and most of all your feet are in a good position for the pedals. Adjust the mirrors so you can see behind you with minimal obstructions. Spend time feeling how the car reacts to you turning the steering wheel, and how hard or soft you have to press the brake or accelerator. Don't be concerned if you feel like you are spending too much time in quiet areas to start with, feeling comfortable and confident with the car is so important before you hit high traffic areas.
